Negative cutouts were used to create the imagery for the tunnel book works, but also left an enormous amount of debris.  The Remnants Series are made with the negative paper cuts from a previous large-scale installation. I use the debris to create new sculptural relief collages, exploring simplicity and playfulness, and the potential of discarded material forming a life beyond being discarded as a negative shape of another work.

​The inherent fragility of paper connects to natural cycles of destruction and renewal.  Within the installations, cut-outs generate negative shapes that bodies and light pass through.  In both the installations and the Remnants collages, they are activated by light to project shadows, repeat shapes, and reiterate abstract forms and spaces.
